Will haunt the snack drawer
Relentlessly, and at inconvenient hours. This is the primary haunting and Boo-Nana takes it seriously.
Thirteen days. One banana. Zero adults willing to take responsibility. This is the complete record of how a piece of fruit became a haunting.
Every detail below is true, unless you require it not to be.
Day 1
Purchased with genuine intention. Placed in the fruit bowl by a person who fully believed they would eat it. That person was wrong, but they did not know that yet.
Day 4
Small brown freckles. Entirely normal. The family referred to this stage as 'basically still fine,' which is how all great horrors begin.
Day 6
It began declining to be peeled. Not physically — it was a banana. But there was a vibe. The family noticed the vibe. Nobody said anything.
Day 9
The transformation completed. It now referred to itself in the third person and had begun making demands about the snack drawer. Banana bread was attempted. Twice.
Day 11
Nobody knows where the sheet came from. There was no sheet in this house. There is now a sheet in this house, and it is occupied.
Day 12
The banana floated. This has never been explained, least of all by the banana, which claims not to remember doing it and is clearly lying.
Day 13
The compost bin was presented. The banana said no. The banana said no in a way that made the bin feel bad about itself. The bin has not recovered.
Ever since
Too ripe to rest in peace, too stubborn to be eaten, and too dead to be thrown away. The fruit bowl is now a haunted location.
Boo-Nana is chaotic, but Boo-Nana is not unpredictable. There are rules. Boo-Nana wrote them. Boo-Nana does not always follow them.
Relentlessly, and at inconvenient hours. This is the primary haunting and Boo-Nana takes it seriously.
This has been attempted. The attempts did not go well for the attempter. We no longer discuss the smoothie incident.
The bin was presented once. It has not been presented since. The bin knows why.
The little ones. From other bananas. Boo-Nana wears them. Nobody has asked why and Boo-Nana has not offered.
And to 'the banana situation,' and to a long sigh from the doorway. All three work.
Asked directly, twice, under oath. The banana claims no memory. The banana is lying and everyone knows it.
No sequel has been written. The banana shows no signs of slowing down.
